How to Set Up a Proxy Server in Windows 10

 

A Proxy Server is an intermediary between your Windows 10 Personal Computer or device and the internet.As an intermediate between your network and the websites you visit a local proxy server can help improved the throughput of your broad band connections. In some cases can help protect your network from malware infections.

  Proxy Server ?

    When you access the internet, your IP address is broadcast to the websites, they know where to send their data to. This is usually good. In some cases users who want to hide their IP address due to privacy and security issues, it can be trouble some.The solution of these problem is a secondary server that handles your data before it goes to the internet.This is called a Proxy Server.This acts as your "Middle Man" between your computer and the internet.You send a data to the proxy server, and it passes the data along to where it needs to go. When you use the internet, your proxy server's IP is broadcast instead of your own PC's.

Why to use a Proxy Server?

    Proxy Server help to save data usage and reduce the use of  bandwidth. It protects the computer identity by hiding the IP address of the client making an internet request. It can improve security by blocking malicious traffic. It can also block sites, a company can stop users from accessing social networks and other websites.

How to Connect Proxy Servers In Windows 10?

    To connect to a Proxy Server, right click the start button.Then click Settings-> Click  on Network and Internet ->Click on Proxy. The list to available proxy settings appears.

In the Automatic Proxy setup section, set the Use setup Script switch to On. 

You will find yourself in the proxy server settings . You have a few options here, if you have script to automatically set up your proxy, you can enter it by clicking "Use Setup Script" then enter the location of the proxy setup script into the box then click Save.

Close settings.

 

Proxy Server Automatically setup

If the Automatically detect settings option is enabled, then Windows 10 will try to automatically detect the settings using the Web Proxy Auto Discovery Protocol(WPAD).

Manual Proxy Setup

You are trying to setup manually, you need to turn OFF the Automatically detect settings toggle switch.

In the Manual Proxy setup manually enter its IP address and port number. The address of a proxy server is similar to that of any computer on the network, and it could be something like 192.168.1.123. The port can be any combination of four digits, including 80 or 8080.

• In the Manual Proxy Setup section, set the Use a proxy server switch to on.
• In the Address Field type the IP address.
• In the port field type the port
• Click Save, then close the settings window.

        To disable the proxy, follow the same steps, set the Use a Proxy Server switch to off.
