Google sign-in troubles on these Smartphone After September 27

Google will no longer allow sign-in on Android devices that run Android 2.3.7 after September 27, 2021. If you sign into your device after September 27 , you may get username and password errors when you try to use Google products and services like Gmail, YouTube and Maps.

Android 2.3.7 was released nearly 10 years ago

As per the report, Google suggests that the cutoff older devices is necessary to protect account privacy. Users will need to update to Android 3.0 or higher to continue use of app.

You can check your Android version by going to settings, system, advanced and tapping system update.

Devices that launched with Android 2.3 include

  • Samsung Galaxy S, Y, Ace, SL, S2
  • HTC Google Nexus One
  • Motorola Artix and RAzR MAXX
  • Alcatel One Touch
  • Huwei Summit, Fusion 2, Ascend Y100 and Y200
  • LG Maximo, Optimus and Lucid 4G
If you have a phone that hasn't been updated since release and still has Android 2.3.7, there is a chance that your device can't be updated.
