What is Incognito Mode?

What is Incognito Mode?

Incognito Mode is an internet browsing mode in which your web browser automatically deletes your browsing history and cookies. Other browsers like Safari, Microsoft Edge and Firefox call this "Private Browsing Mode".

How does Incognito Mode Work?

With Incognito mode whether you browse the web, login into your accounts or enter banking details, once the session ends all data will be removed. Anyone who browses later on your device won't be able to see your activity. It doesn't shield your identity from sites you visit.

Features

1. No Tracking of Browsing Activity. : When you are using the Incognito mode. you device doesn't save the browsing history and cookies.

2. Browser Automatically deletes cookies and site data at the end of session.: Cookies are small files that allows websites to remember who you are. Cookies and other types of data are automatically erased when you close the browser window with incognito mode.

3. Automatically Logout : If you forget to logout of your account when using a public computer you will automatically logout with incognito mode.

4. Browser doesn't remember information entered in forms: The forms will not auto fill in this method. If you have selected "remember me" on a websites that require a login you browser will not remember this permission when you are in Incognito mode.

How to use Incognito Mode:

To open an incognito window in Google Chrome on a computer:

  1. Open the Chrome browser app.
  2. In the upper right corner, select the More button (three dots), then select New Incognito Window. Your browser will automatically open a new incognito window with the incognito icon (glasses and a hat) in the top right corner.
